Fort De Soto Park

Fort De Soto Park is about a 30-minute drive from Maderia Beach. It’s also worth stopping at and exploring if you’ve never been there before. This park is the largest park in Pinellas County and is made up of five interconnected islands. 

This park is well-known due to its history. The park was once used for military forts, which is where it gets its name from. You can still find traces of the forts here and even an interesting museum as well.

Sunken Gardens

Sunken Gardens is also a 30-minute drive from Maderia Beach, but worth the trip. These are botanical gardens that you can explore for a small fee. It’s home to the oldest tropical plants in the region, and you’ll find more than 50,000 tropical flowers and plants here. 

If you’re looking for a relaxing experience, then this is it. There’s also a children’s museum located directly next to the gardens, which is a great way to let the little ones get out some energy before heading back to your rental for the night.
